Community. A community of women is what this project was all about. For three months we gathered together on Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings at The Reach art gallery, in community meeting rooms and in homes. Women from all walks of life, from many different backgrounds, young and old, in groups of friends or with families or just alone. They came to participate in the project, to share a tea and a snack, and while they did they worked and visited and learned from and about each other. We glued at least 60,000 pieces of paper as well as quilted and felted trees, and in the centre, laser cut plastic people gather in the centre to complete this community art installation. Overall it measures 15 by 5 feet and its final home will be in the lobby of Abbotsford Community Services.
